DUST JACKET: Lightly Creased; Lightly Scuffed; Lightly Chipped; In Archival Quality Jacket Cover. SUB-TITLE: The Secrets of Canada's Most Successful Entrepreneurs. SYNOPSIS: The success stories presented here challenge the cynical Bay Street axiom that for a businessman to make a small fortune today he has to begin with a large fortune. From the creators of the popular nationally syndicated Global Television series, Everybody's Business, here is a valuable and insightful book chronicling the lives of more than fifty of Canada's most successful entrepreneurs. Kenneth Barnes and Everett Banning provide valuable insights into how entrepreneurs outside the Canadian establishment have realized success in today's highly competitive market. The authors spell out exactly how these entrepreneurs became successful: how a market for a particular product was determined, how a business plan was put in place, how financing was found, and how the product was produced and marketed. Most of these individuals are unknown. Many of them are now wealthy, but others have pursued business dreams to gain independence and personal freedom. Some of the entrepreneurs who had a "better idea" include: Heather and Ken Dafoe, who risked their savings and home to challenge multinationals such as Johnson & Johnson. Their sales in 1985 should top $100,000,000; Chris Duffy, an energetic housewife with five children who got fed up with spilt milk from plastic bags, and developed a new milk jug she is marketing throughout North America; David Steele and Philip Carroll, two enterprising twenty-five-year-olds who own Three Buoys, a houseboat charter company in British Columbia and Ontario. Today they employ 200 people and own over 250 houseboats; Paul Abildgaard, who at age fifty took early retirement from his Calgary company and today is grossing millions bottling Nanton Spring Water. In only five years his empire has spread to cover meat products and soft drinks. Money Makers! reveals why these people succeeded and explores the common thread that runs through virtually all their stories. Kenneth Barnes and Everett Banning have drawn upon real life success stories to uncover a blueprint of action for would-be entrepreneurs and independent businessmen and women. A broadcast journalist for sixteen years, Everett Banning is economics editor and anchorman-commentator for Global Television Network News. Kenneth Barnes is the head of his own consulting firm specializing in marketing communications and is also the executive producer of Everybody's Business. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
