Synopsis
This text aims to provide background information on the subject of internal combustion engines to form part of most thermodynamic courses. There is wide coverage of practical aspects including turbulance modelling, turbocharging, and emissions monitoring equipment. The second edition contains new material, both within original chapters and in new chapters on two-stroke engines, in-cylinder motion, engine modelling and heat transfer in ICE's. There are new sections on lead free petrol and alternative fuels, the use of ceramics and electronic engine management systems plus the increased quantity of worked examples.
