About the Author

Rudolf Steiner (18611925) was born in the small village of Kraljevec, Austro-Hungarian Empire (now in Croatia), where he grew up. As a young man, he lived in Weimar and Berlin, where he became a well-published scientific, literary, and philosophical scholar, known especially for his work with Goethe's scientific writings. At the beginning of the twentieth century, he began to develop his early philosophical principles into an approach to systematic research into psychological and spiritual phenomena. Formally beginning his spiritual teaching career under the auspices of the Theosophical Society, Steiner came to use the term Anthroposophy (and spiritual science) for his philosophy, spiritual research, and findings. Synopsis

This book contains a course of eight lectures given by Rudolf Steiner in Munich in August 1913. A brief synopsis of these lectures is as follows: Lecture 1: contains the first reference to Eurhythmy and deal entirely with the fourth Mystery Play "The Soul's Awakening"; Lecture 2: Ahriman and Lucifer are both necessary, they cannot be driven away but they must be balanced; Lecture 3: Element world, the first condition is the ability to transform into a foreign being; Lecture 4: In ascent from element world to spirit world, everything of the sense world must be abandoned; Lecture 5: Professor Capesius; Lecture 6: Roman letter Ahriman; Lecture 7: no royal road, each soul has its own path; Lecture 8: Lucifer and Ahriman change their role in different epochs.
