EDWARD J. KHANTZIAN, MD, is professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and past president of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. Dr. Khantzian is a distinguished scholar, psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst, specializing in addictions for more than forty years.
