Synopsis
Perhaps the most reliable path to spiritual and mental calm is through meditation—a practice dating from antiquity that is basic to many religions. Devotional practices and rituals explained include Christian prayer, the Zen Buddhist tea ceremony, flower arranging, and Islamic prayer. Approximately 60 illustrations help clarify the principles and practices of meditation.

About the Author
Gill Farrer-Halls was born in Surrey, England in 1958 and is a longtime practitioner of meditation. She has worked as a video maker, writer and editor on books and videos about meditation and Buddhism for the last ten years. Her other books include Meditations and Rituals with Essential Oils, The World of the Dalai Lama and The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Buddhist Wisdom. She is currently working on a Buddhist daybook. She practises and teaches aromatherapy and lives in Oxford.
