About the Author
Mary-Margaret Coates, MS, IBCLC Mary-Margaret Coates is the mother of three breastfed children, two of whom began life in intensive care nurseries. She has held the following positions/roles: La Leche League International group leader, 1977-1992 International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), 1985 (first year certification offered) to present Wrote first chapter in all three editions of Breastfeeding and Human Lactation Speaker at La Leche League of Colorado/Wyoming biennial conference in 1990 and 1992 Speaker at International Lactation Consultant Association annual meetings in 1989, 1991, 1996 Speaker at Australian International Lactation Consultant Association annual meeting, 1998
