Have you ever wanted to understand how your web browser works? Or maybe you wanted to write your own email program? If you know Visual Basic and are somewhat familiar with the Internet, then this book is for you.
I'll show you how to use Microsoft's ActiveX Internet Control Pack to create your own FTP program, mail program, news reader and web browser. Then, I will show you how to add advanced features to these programs such as filters that will eleminate unwanted news articles and email messages.
Perhaps you would like to see a scrolling bar that will display the subject lines of new news articles. Or maybe you would like to have a web browser that actually walks it way through the web, selecting interesting web pages for you to view. This book covers all of that and more.
I wrote this book so that anyone who has some Visual Basic experience can understand the programs. I also cover sufficient background about how the Internet works that you can easily add your own extensions to these programs.
Anyway, I hope that you find reading this book and playing with the sample programs as enjoyable as I did while I was writing them.
