Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Wright, Blanche Fisher (illustrator). First, Thus. Orig. published in 1918 with a slightly different title (we are also offering a slightly later printing of that First Edition; please see our listing #027205), this is the First Printing of the 2007 Barnes & Noble reprint, making these charming rhymes by Leroy F. Jackson (1881-1958) & enchanting illustrations by Blanche Fisher Wright (1887-1971) available to a new generation of young readers. In 88 pages, decorated in full color & duotone throughout, including many full-size plates. All are flawless! Overall condition is Near Fine, downgraded due to slight rubbing/white spotting to exterior. Else, virtually perfect: pages white & completely unmarked, colors bright, binding strong & straight. Seller: Gargoyle Books, IOBA, La Mesa, CA, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Wright, Blanche Fisher (illustrator). First Edition Later Printing. A children's favorite for over a century, this is a collection of charming rhymes by Leroy F. Jackson (1881-1958) enhanced by the enchanting illustrations of Blanche Fisher Wright (1887-1971). This is the 1918 FIRST EDITION (a later C printing), not the modern Barnes & Noble reprint (which we are also offering--please see our listing # 026799). Unpaginated (approx. 110 pages--a few rhymes in rear are missing, as is the free rear endpaper). Decorated in full color & black-&-white silhouettes throughout, including many full-page plates. Huge (10" x 12") hardcover has green cloth-covered boards with a fully decorated front paper pastedown, lettered in black, with lighter green lettering to spine. Condition is Fair: heavy external rubbing with fraying & some loss at all corners & both ends of spine. The interior shows random soiling/spotting, with all over light tanning. Some coloring & child's pencil drawings in front matter, but the contents are nearly completely unmarked. Old gift inscription in lovely script dated 1921 in front matter. A few pages have short, unclosed tears. Though the sewn binding is largely secure, both front & rear hinges are cracked & many pages are loosening. Some of the plates have come completely detached, but are still lovely & could easily be extracted & framed for your child's room. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have on hand. Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Pacific time (Pacific); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day. SORRY: book is too large for expedited domestic or any international shipping without preapproval of extra (at least double) postage per USPS rates. Seller Inventory # 027205
