Synopsis
In Unseen Earnhardt, the racing career of a true American hero is celebrated through the lenses and notebooks of stock car racing's finest photographers and most insightful journalists. Bryant McMurray, Dick Conway, and Nigel Kinrade have pulled together 230 previously unpublished photographs that not only show "The Intimidator" at his most intense behind the wheel, but which also reveal him during lighter moments off the track. In addition to these candid, previously unseen images, action-packed race photos depict all of Dale's cars, including rare, early shots fromhis pre-1979 career. Journalists Jonathan Ingram (Autoweek), Ben Blake (Racer), Al Pearce (Autoweek), and David Green provide short stories that recall key moments in Dale's career. A montage of moments rather than a complete history, Unseen Earnhardt provides fresh perspectives on the incendiary career of a true NASCAR legend-the man behind the wheel of the No. 3 car.

About the Author
Al Pearce saw his first NASCAR race in 1966 in Daytona Beach and covered his first race in July 1969 at Dover, Delaware for the Times-Herald of Newport News, Virginia. Since then, he’s covered thousands of NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula One, NHRA, and SCCA races for the Tribune Company (1969-2004) and Autoweek (1973-current). Pearce has authored thirteen books on racing, including Unseen Earnhardt: The Man Behind the Mask and Holman-Moody: The Legendary Race Team (with Tom Cotter). He lives in Newport News, Virginia.
