"Figuring Things Out: A Practical Guide to Critical Thinking" is intended to be used as a brief, useful guide to critical thinking. Its user-friendly format works well as a basic text for classes in critical thinking. "Figuring Things Out" focuses on three basic elements: What critical thinking is, specific skills associated with critical thinking, and common errors to avoid; Application of critical thinking in order to become a better consumer of advertising and news media; and Analysis of argumentation, based on the specific elements of reasoning.
