The author started photographing weddings nearly 30 years ago as a part time job when he was a fireman. He started by working for a well-known local photographer who has now become one of the most qualified and talented photographers in the U.K.
Since then the author has gone on to have his own studio and has had success as a social and commercial photographer. He now concentrates solely on wedding photography which has always been the most enjoyable aspect of his career.
For the majority of his career, photography has been a part time business which as often proved invaluable in helping to support his large family. He had to adapt to the new digital era, but believes that it has opened up a whole new world of creativity that was previously unobtainable.
In these days of recession and credit crunch many people have seen photographing weddings as an easy way of making money which has resulted in a large number of disgruntled couples who have had their special day ruined by an incompetent novice. It has also resulted in a few of these unqualified photographers being taken to the small claims court.
The author wrote this book with the aim of helping those who want to enter the profession to boost their knowledge and confidence and to help them to succeed and provide a level of service that will allow them to earn money and provide them with satisfied customers. We all owe it to our customers and to ourselves to encourage a level of professionalism within the industry that will help to give us the respect and recognition we deserve and to encourage higher standards.
