Animal Lives: The Otter is written in a very plain and straightforward style which makes for easy understanding and interesting reading. You are not only given plenty of information about otters but there is also a section at the back of the book that tells you where you can seek out this fascinating species and how to watch them without disturbing them. The glossary of specialist words used in the main text of the book and the list of useful contacts if you wish to find out more information about Otters add further weight to the book.

In addition to a tremendously informative text, the illustrations are wonderfully detailed and really help to lift the book from a factual and perhaps rather mundane non-fiction title to a visually intriguing book.
