Synopsis
Roger's tour of duty covered the period between October 1967 and October 1968; it was the most violent twelve months of the Vietnam War. Because the 25th Division was so deeply involved from start to finish, they suffered badly, Roger himself surviving four wounds. ON POINT is a splendid combat memoir with battle descriptions that leave the palms sweaty. He describes the impact on frontline morale of the change of sentiment at home as American deaths mounted, and his views of the Vietnamese people are both sensitive and intelligent.
