When the big Concord stage rattled into San Lucas, old Sam Doan and his buddy Pete were startled to see Ed Yate arrest its passenger, King Malory, as a cattle rustler. Ed Yate was head of the new Stockmen's Association and Sam's former boss, but Old King Malory had been the name of the man who had once saved Sam's life. Sam and Pete broke the stranger out of jail to discover that the arrest was faked. King was actually working for the Stockmen's Association and old King's grandson. Loyalty to his grandfather's memory and admiration for the dark and sinewy young man made Sam and Pete join King in his fight to uncover the cattle rustlers and clear the Malory name.
