Synopsis
Richard John Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan, disappeared in 1974 after the vicious murder of his children's nanny and a near-fatal attack on his young wife. He has never been found, despite a warrant for his arrest and a police hunt that has covered the world. Former Detective Chief Superintendent Roy Ranson was at the forefront of those investigations. Was Lucan guilty of the attacks on the two innocent women, or wrongly accused after he tried to save his wife from a mystery assailant who had already murdered the nanny? Is he alive and well, protected abroad by friends, or did he commit suicide? With the help of Robert Strange, who covered the case as a journalist, Ranson endeavours to disentangle the facts from the fiction, and re-examines the most promising leads.
