Synopsis
The saga opens with young Beth Tewke struggling to come to terms with a tragic loss. Left with little choice after the tragedy, she and her mother are compelled to go and live with her old Grandfather Tewke, to help him keep house and do what they can to keep his carpentry business up and running. It is at Grandfather Tewke's that Beth grows up into a willful and independent young woman, ary of her ageing grandparent's plans to secure the continuation of his business by finding a good marriage for her. But Beth has her own ideas, and remains determined to live her life according to her own choices, whatever they may be.
