This revised edition of the casebook can be used as a companion volume to the "General Principles of English Law Textbook", but also comprises a reference tool in itself. Its aim is to supplement and enhance students' understanding and interpretation of this particular area of the law, and to provide essential background reading. It is divided into four main chapters, corresponding to the overall content of the textbook, although it does not follow the exact sequence of the chapters in the textbook. Cases are arranged alphabetically within each chapter, and those cases which are covered sufficiently in the textbook are not included in the casebook. Chapter 1 covers that part of the textbook which might loosely be called "general principles" ie. the meaning and sources of law, the court system and the legal profession. Chapter 2 covers criminal law, Chapter 3 covers tort and Chapter 4 covers contract. Within each chapter, cases are arranged alphabetically for ease of reference.
