The TV and VCR IC DATA FILE Books were conceived to help provide the repair engineer with a convenient and reliable source of information to aid speedy fault finding. Its not news to the repair engineer to be reminded about the constant price war amongst manufacturers, each struggling to provide very high tech domestic TV, VCR and HiFi equipment at the lowest possible prices. This is a bonus to those entering the trade as it will remove some of the mystique from those little black boxes, and to my fellow professionals who may be a "little rusty" on modern terminology.

The " IC Data file " books are not intended to explain the intricate internal workings of devices, that would in any case be of little use in practical fault finding. Within these pages are the most common applications you will encounter and only minor variations will be found. Experience has shown the most likely information required by the service engineer, when suspecting a faulty i.c, is where to find the supply and what type of signal should be were. Within seconds the information is here at your finger tips, without having to dissect a complicated circuit diagram, ( if your lucky to have one ! ) The "IC data file" books are a valuable reference source, taking the frustration out of not knowing what signal should be where during fault finding.
