Review

This is the second edition of an excellent book which was first published in 1986. Like most second editions, it has taken an already successful format and improved upon it.
Hospital Update, March 1996

It is well written, well organised, well illustrated and enjoyable to read.

This book is a gem. In Mr Macnicol's 2nd edition of his book on the problem knee he has included a vast amount of information in a relatively small volume. This is an important book for the registrar and is short enough to be a preferred text when preparing for the orthopaedic specialist examinations. It is to be highly recommended.
British Journal of Hospital Medicine, Autumn 1996

The fourth review and still a high level of excellence and usefulness, this time maintained by another consultant orthopaedic surgeon with the second edition of this book. The Northern Institute's 'knee expert', David Crossley, had the opportunity to read the book immediately after his two-day seminar on the Knee Joint and was extremely impressed by the expertise of the author and his manner of communication to the reader. He felt that this was definately a book written with the express purpose of teaching rather than impressing other consultants with his knowledge. The author provides a basic approach to knee problems for those in practice in surgery, in physical therapy and sports medicine practitioners. He provides an interesting section on knee problems encountered among children and we were particularly interested in the X-ray showing the growth arrest lines visible in children produced by the stress of skiing every winter. The photographs, diagrams and X-ray reproductions are all excellent and informative and this book represents excellent value to all practitioners who encounter the 'problem knee' in their clinics.

...this book would be helpful for patients, coaches, and possibly therapists who would like to get an overview of orthopaedic knee problems.
