Synopsis
Although longer and containing greater detail, the third edition of this introductory text on gene cloning is still aimed at undergraduates and others who have little or no previous experience of cloning techniques. It includes an entirely new chapter on the polymerase chain reaction, a technique that has assumed great importance in molecular biology. There is also a new final chapter on plant genetic engineering, reflecting the increasing research interest, and general concern, in promoting environmentally-sensitive practices in agriculture.
