This volume presents Habermas's most recent contributions to ethical theory, expanding and clarifying his controversial theory of discourse ethics.

Responding to criticisms of his theory, Habermas defends the claim of discourse ethics to a central position in contemporary moral philosophy. Jürgen Habermas is a German philosopher and sociologist in the tradition of critical theory and pragmatism. He is perhaps best known for his theories on communicative rationality and the public sphere.
