Synopsis
Ben Norm and his sister Mary take care over their appearance. They like to look good, while fitting in with the rest of the kids at school. But their parents are impossible! Dad has a scruffy ponytail and a nosering and Mum is a belly dancer who wears a fishnet bodystocking. Why can't they be respectable like other kids' parents? And how can they be stopped from totally mortifying Ben and Mary at Parents' Day? But, when the big day arrives, there are surprises in store for everyone! Brian Patten's poetry for adults includes the collections "Love Poems" and "Storm Damage", as well as two Mersey Beat volumes with Roger McGough and Adrian Henri. Among his works for children are the poetry collections "Thawing Frozen Eggs" and "Gargling with Jelly". He has also written the Walker picture book, "The Magic Bicycle" (illustrated by Arthur Robins). Arthur Robins has illustrated several books including "Impo"; "Little Rabbit Foo Foo"; "I Know an Old Lady"; "The Magic Bicycle"; "The Finger-Eater" and "Beware Olga!".

About the Author
Brian Patten is one of Britain's best-known poets. His many volumes of adult poetry include Storm Damage and Grinning Jack, while, for children, he has written the popular verse collections Gargling with Jelly and Thawing Frozen Frogs. Among his other works for children are the award-winning novel Mr Moon's Last Case; the sequel to Impossible Parents, Impossible Parents Go Green, and the Walker picture book The Magic Bicycle. Arthur Robins has illustrated numerous children's books, including The Finger-eater, Beware Olga!, Impo, Little Rabbit Foo Foo, I Know an Old Lady, The Magic Bicycle and Impossible Parents Go Green.
