Synopsis

The book, THE OXYMORON FACTOR, is a memoir. It consists of four parts: 1. FRANEK; 2. THE TALE OF THE RING: a KADDISH; 3. GIOVANNA of the CHESTNUT; 4. THE WINDING TRAIL TO THE HOUSE OF MARGIE. It tells of the harrowing years of Jewish life in Poland during the 20 years between World War I and World War II; of the extermination of 90% of the Jewish population of Europe during the Holocaust; of the redemption by Love; and of rebuilding a new life, from scratch, in New York City. Most importantly, it tells about the need of a victim to forgive his hangman, in order to be able to become, once more, an ordinary member of civilized society.

About the Author

Born in the Austro-Hungarian Galicia on 11.23.16, Frank Stiffel grew up, a young Jew, in the then Polish City of Lwow. In 1942, he and his family were deported to the Death Camp of Treblinka, from which he escaped, only to be apprehended a few months later. He served time in Gestapo jails and in the concentration camp of Auschwitz, until the Red Army liberated the camp on January 27th, 1945. Soon, he left Poland, leading a 20-persons group of Jewish survivors of the Holocaust, first to Romania, then to Italy. Traveling in Tuscany, he met the Girl of his Destiny. They were married within months. In 1950, Frank with his wife and a little daughter landed in New York as D.P.s, Displaced Persons. It took him years, again, to complete this manuscript, the Confession of a Jew, so to speak. The book covers almost the entire 20th Century and, even though it reads like fiction, it is an important page of History of Mankind.
