About the Author

Dan Orr is president and CEO of the Divers Alert Network (DAN), an international scuba diving safety organization. A veteran diver of more than 40 years, Orr joined DAN in 1991 and immediately established the DAN training department and the Oxygen for Scuba Diving course, a standard in the dive industry. Eric Douglas is director of training at the Divers Alert Network (DAN), where he researches and develops dive safety training programs. He is also a diver medical technologist, a dive instructor, and master trainer for first aid and basic life support. Douglas worked for the world's largest dive training organization, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), where he helped develop training materials and served as the assistant editor of Undersea Journal, a publication read by more than 150,000 professional divers worldwide.
