About the Author

Richard Alvarez (Chicago, IL) is the senior web-developer for Brittanica.com. which has recently been honored by PC World as one of the four top sites in the world. Richard’s career has been focused on developing new media projects through developing technology into playful, moving, and in-depth designs for CD-ROM, the web, and wireless devices. As a senior web developer and project manager, he has extensive experience developing off-line dynamic Generator/Flash sites in all phases of the production life cycle. Richard is on the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism faculty and offers courses on journalism and new media. Jason Taylor (Chicago, IL) was hired last year by Brittanica.com to lead the creative team as the lead creative technologist. Since 1995 he has designed, developed, and contributed to more than 47 web sites and on-line galleries. Bridging the gap between designer and developer, Jason understands all aspects of Internet and new media production – from initial concept, to production, to quality assurance.
