Web Publishing Step by Step is a self-study course on delivering on-line content using Microsoft's FrontPage 2000 and PhotoDraw 2000. "Complete Self-Pacing Training" is what the cover boasts and if you're familiar with Microsoft's wizards and software then you'll soon be up and running intranet and Internet sites. Most things are covered here: graphics, frames, Web site structure, navigation, forms, uploading files, multimedia, hints on design and even the arcanely named cascading style-sheets. Do not fear--you will not have to dirty your hands with code or HTML: this is a straightforward guide that's as simple as it can get. The final chapter is about integrating Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel documents into your site.

There's an accompanying training CD-ROM covering the subjects of each chapter through interactive tutorials as well as providing sample files to experiment with. You follow the lessons through working with dummy windows that teach you where to point and click. It won't be to everyone's taste: the interface looks clunky and occasionally feels patronising. For those with sound cards there's also an audio track. Web Publishing Step by Step is pitched at small office and home office users who are total novices at Web design but are familiar with Office 2000 and need to run a small internet or intranet site.
