Synopsis
AIDS presents clinical, ethical and educational challenges to doctors, nurses and other health workers. The "ABC of AIDS" covers the whole range of problems presented by patients with HIV infection and with AIDS, from giving counselling and moral support to providing nursing care and clinical treatment. The book also discusses the underlying virology and immunology and looks at future prospects for treatment and prevention. It is aimed at all clinicians, general practitioners and hospital doctors who have not yet seen many patients with AIDS or HIV infection and will also be useful for nurses, counsellors and others concerned with AIDS. This revised second edition includes new chapters on HIV in children and drug users.
