Synopsis
When there is nothing to choose between accident, suicide, or murder, motive is the only clue . . . - A rich Englishman is found dead at the foot of a steep wall of rock in Mallorca. Was it accident, suicide or murder? Inspector Alvarez thinks only motive will provide the answer. But he quickly discovers the dead man can be linked to just about every other English person on the island – including Mary, the dead man’s niece and heir to his fortune, to whom Alvarez is becoming uncomfortably close . . .

About the Author
Roderic Jeffries was born in London in 1926 and was educated at Southampton's School of Navigation. In 1943 he went to sea with the New Zealand Shipping Company and returned to England in 1949 where he was subsequently called to the Bar. He practiced law for a brief period before starting to write full time. His books have been published in many different countries and have been adapted for film, television, and radio. He and his wife live in Mallorca, and have two children.
