Rick Johnson, Professor of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, University of Washington, Seattle. Since completing his fellowship in 1987 he made the rapid rise to his current position via Assistant Professorand Associate Professor status. He has received many honorary awards from bodies such as the American Society of Clinical Investigation, 1995, the American Society of Nephrology and American Heart Association "Young Investigator Award" 1994, and research career development awards from the National Institute of Health since 1992. Closely allied to professional societies, he has alsobeen active on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Kidney International, Nephrology and the American Journal of Kidney Disease. Rick is a prolific writer and speaker, often visiting universities and hospitals overseas.
Dr John Feehally has been a consultant Nephrologist at Leicester General Hospital since 1988, and was awarded Honorary Reader in Medicine status at the University of Leicester in 1996. Though he is tremendously well respected for his research into IgA Nephrology (the commonest form of glomerulonephritis), he has written extensively in otherareas including those of dialysis and transplantation. He has reviewed articles for all the leading journals and been active on the Editorial Boards of Experimental Nephrology, Oxfron Monographs in Clinical Nephrology, and the British Journal of Renal Medicine. He is well recognised on the conference lecture circuit in Europe and the USA, spending his sabbatical period at Boston University Medical Center.
