Synopsis
This atlas describes the many aspects of bone marrow transplantation from patient selection through to late post-transplantation complications. The preliminary chapters describe the principles of transplantation - marrow matching, and the range of conditions suitable for this method of treatment. The text then provides a brief description of harvesting and processing techniques prior to this procedure, and discusses preparation of the patient. The main section of the book describes and illustrates the post-transplant problems of respiratory, gastroenterological and neurological infection, clotting, graft versus host disease (reaction to, and rejection of, donor marrow) and late effects (such as: malignancies, skin damage, pneumonitis, eye effects and endicrine disorders).
