Synopsis
Few undergraduates have the opportunity to study infectious diseases at the bedside and most enter their profession ill-equipped to recognize even common infections, which form an essential part of everyday practice. This atlas aims to provide the students and the newly qualified doctor with a guide to the diagnosis of the common exanthemata, and the experienced physician with clinical photographs of less common though important diseases. The illustrations, mostly in colour, are accompanied by short texts which, when read in sequence, give a simple, coherent account of each disease. Emphasis has been placed on the clinical aspects of disease, but the causative organism and the relevant pathology are also covered.
