About the Author
Beatrix Potter is one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood.
A source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.

Originally published in 1902, this deluxe edition was published to commemorate the writing of the famous picture letter sent by Potter to the son of her former governess in 1893. The book is bound in fine blue cloth with title, author and illustration in gilt on the front cover; title in gilt on the spine. All edges gilt. Gift inscription on the front paste-down. Otherwise, pages are in pristine condition. The card slipcase has bubbling mainly on the top and front panels, likely a binding error.
