About the Author
Noah Webster was born in West Hartford, Connecticut in 1758. He came of age during the American Revolution and was instrumental in developing education in early America. He wrote and published the first truly American dictionary.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dark red faux leather binding with gilt lettering and decoration to front and spine. India paper, red speckled edges, no inscriptions or other markings, unused. 1979 facsimile edition of Johnson's original dictionary published in two volumes in 1755. Foreward by Robert Burchfield. A few small light marks to boards else fine. Slipcase is very robust, matching coloured dark red paper covering, some very light edgewear.
