Topics no longer relevant to modern sonographic technology, such as shock excitation, mechanical transducers, and annular arrays, have been eliminated. The chapters on Doppler principles have been arranged into a new sequence. Many new figures are included to enhance the explanation and understanding of principles and concepts. Bolded key terms are defined at the beginning of each chapter and also in the glossary. More subheadings have been included, and concepts throughout the text have been simplified to aid student comprehension.
