Review
One night, Horace and his teddy bear, William woke up and decided to be naughty.The adorable Horace and William feature in the first story in this beautiful volume, "Don't Worry William" by Christine Morton. The duo may start off in a mischievous mood but the scary noises they hear in the dark mean that their little adventure isn't what they had in mind at all. Other boisterous bears are featured, including Little Brown Bear who has aspirations to be a bird and isn't discouraged by his lack of the necessary paraphernalia to fly, in Bears Can't Fly. Telephone Ted has to answer the phone when nobody else can hear it but he soon gets frustrated that he can't have a proper conversation. The curious bear in Top Shelf Ted makes it his ambition to climb high enough to reach a special box which appears one day, but he is not very happy with what he finds. Daisy the bear has a very familiar catchphrase in Are We Nearly There? when she and her Dad undertake a challenging journey along the twisting track. This collection brings together five favourite bear stories originally published in Ladybird's Picture Stories series. The illustrations are wonderful--big, bold and immensely cuddly. Bears for Bedtime is lovely to own, ideal to give and overall great value. --Rachel Ediss
