About the Author

The Outdoor Writers' Guild was founded in 1980 by a group of journalists who discovered they shared love of exploring and communicating with the 'Great Outdoors'
Roly Smith is the OWG chairman and contributes both an introduction and an essay on Kinder Scout. He recently retired from working with the Peak National Park, and lives in Bakewell.
