Overall, a solid, Good only copy in an unclipped, Good+ dust jacket, which has creasing with short chips and tears to the spine ends and corners, sunning to the spine with shallow soiling at the tail, rubbing to the covers, and wear with a few short tears to the edges. Edited and translated by Quintin Hoare and Geoffrey Nowell Smith. Some tanning to the paper. Light edgewear to the jacket. First English language translation, written by the Italian Communist leader between 1929 and 1935 while he was imprisoned by the fascists. He was released in 1935 on medical grounds and he passed away in 1937. The notebooks were smuggled out of prison and not published until 1947 (Quaderni del carcere) in Italian.
