Synopsis
Presents guidance on selection, provision and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and its use to reinforce the sound principles introduced in the new regulations. The regulations cover all equipment designed to be worn or held to protect against a hazard. PPE should be relied upon only as a last resort where risk cannot otherwise be adequately cotrolled, and should be provided free of charge to those exposed to risk. This booklet gives advice on the duties of employers to maintain and replace PPE, provide storage for it, and give information and training for its correct use.
