Dr Ashling Jackson is a senior lecturer in Athlone Institute of Technology, lecturing in the areas of community development, sociology and research methods. She has worked extensively with disadvantaged groups in community settings, most notably the Traveller community. Dr Colm O'Doherty is a lecturer in the Institute of Technology Tralee, with many years' experience as a social work practitioner in Ireland, England and Wales. He has written and published widely on topics such as family support and social capital, which are directly applicable to positive community development practice.
