A Guide to Welsh Literature Volume I / Edited by Professor A.O.H Jarman and Gwilym Rees Hughes / Published by Christopher Davies Ltd in 1976 / 295 pages || This first volume, the first in a series of six, surveys the period from the sixth to the end of the thirteenth century. It includes all the major works composed or written in Welsh, whether verse or prose, during this period, such as the Gododdin of Aneirin, eulogies of Taliesin, the court poetry of the medieval princes, the Mabinogi and other native Welsh tales of course, and the Arthurian romances to name but a very few. This volume in particular, deals with a period when Welsh literary traditions played a significant part in the intellectual development of Europe and both this volume and the series as a whole would appeal to anyone interested in literature as the expression of a national culture.
