Synopsis

`The Others' is about solipsism, the failure to distinguish
properly between the Self and the Other. It is set in a contemporary
`bourgeois' household presided over by a despotic father who, in a
tempestuous midnight outburst, harangues his family, confesses to a series
of moral `crimes', and failing to get his wife and children to follow suit,
brings in four strange outsiders--the Others of the title--to continue the
interrogation, elicit confessions and introduce reform.
