"The encyclopaedia was first published in monthly parts, under the title Encyclopedia voor de Vogelliefhebber ["The Bird Fancier's Encyclopaedia"], commencing in 1964, and subsequently in three bound volumes. They found a ready market and are now appearing in several other languages." "Leading ornithologists and aviculturists from all parts of the world were invited to write on the groups of birds on which they are the recognized authorities. The distinguished team of writers includes Dr. J. Delacour, J. Eyckens, Carl Naether, Robert L. Busenbark, Henry J. Bates, Dr. E. Nieboer, C. af Enehjelm, Joseph Forshaw, Dr. Kurt Kolar and G.
