He shows step by step how to build faces, bodies, expressions and movement. He then describes techniques for freehand drawing, composition, perspective and caricature - with hundreds of drawings. The hardest and often most overlooked aspect of cartooning is writing gags for single cartoons and comic strips. This is examined with suggestions for exploration and development. Finally there is advice on presenting finished work and, what is most important, on getting it published."

Just thought I would like to say hello to all you budding cartoonists who are thinking of buying my first book (the second is on the way).
I wrote The Cartoonist's Workbook with two goals in mind. Firstly I wanted to write the book that I could never find when I was starting out. Secondly I wanted to have a book that I could even make use of MYSELF. For this reasons I included hundreds of reference drawings, poses and gag situations that I really DO still refer to from time to time.
More importantly, however, I devised a foolproof method for coming up with gags which I guarantee you - CANNOT fail, even if you have a severe case of writer's block!
The Cartoonist's Workbook was a labour of love for me. If you follow it carefully and put in the practise, I assure you, it WILL help you evolve as a cartoonist.
