Veniard and Downs "started their monthly Fly Tyers' Forum articles in Trout and Salmon magazine in February 1970, in which they sought the ideas of amateur fly dressers. The response was tremendous, and from the first 14 Forum articles came the book Fly Tying Development and Progress. A section on the history of the fish hook and the development of fly-tying is followed by articles on specific aspects of fly-tying: Jungle cock eyes, hair hackles and fur bodies, tandem lures, parachute hackles, hair wings, fluorescent materials and tube flies. . Blue cloth, gilt title to spine. B/w photos and illustrations, a few colour plates. 218 pages. SIGNED by the illustrator with small illustration of a fly, dedication to previous owner. (Think the author was meant to sign it too but that bit is blank). Spine bumped. Very slight darkening to cover edges. Page edge browning. Slight foxing/browning to endpapers. Margins of colour plates are foxed. Dustwrapper is edge worn and a bit browned to rear panel. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched! SIGNED - please see description for details. Bound in fresh looking cloth boards with crisp title lettering on the spine. Clean pages throughout with no inscriptions, albeit toned at the page block edge.
