The most comprehensive book on the subject for over 40 years
This book covers primrose & polyanthus history together with all other aspects, including cultivation, pests and diseases and hybridization. It also includes, for the first time, detailed information on the contribution of American growers. A comprehensive history of the named juliae hybrids and Irish Garryards, containing much new information, together with the true story of the Cowichan polyanthus is included. Detailed chapters cover the Gold-laced polyanthus, double primrose and the anomalous-type hose-in-hose, jack-in-the greens, together with their derivatives. This information has not appeared previously in such detail. A large number of enthusiasts from several countries contributed much new information, while I consulted a large number of written sources,including many rare catalogues and old books and journals. This book was a labour of love from an interest which began in about 1960 after reading Roy Genders book `Primroses'.
