Synopsis
From the earliest days of the internal combustion engine, there has been an imperative to compete both in terms of speed and endurance - an imperative which today is best exemplified through the huge interest in the Formula One (F1) championship. Although F1 is the pinnacle of motor sport, at a lesser level there is a vast network of motor racing circuits at which competitive motor sport takes place on a regular basis.
