"There is no-one like him, his acheivements have earned him a place in climbing history". - SIR CHRIS BONINGTON Despite walking on two below-knee artificial legs, it became Norman Croucher's ambition to climb any one of the world's fourteen mountains which exceed 8,000 metres. No one with a considerable disability had climbed anywhere near this high, and his goal was an almost impossible dream. His climbing career has involved sixty-six ascents of mountains in excess of 3,000 metres - including the Eiger, the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc - together with sixteen climbs above 6,000 metres. These were steps along the way to his highest ascent, that of the sixth highest mountain in the world, Cho Oyu. Here is his remarkable story, in which he captures the fun as well as the extreme hardship.
