Digging too deep into a bureaucratic cover-up, Mark Bellamy, Chief of Security, finds himself accused of murder and treason. This leaves him no choice but to run to the stars. Along with thirty thousand others, he will leave on Earth's Second Colony ship. It will mean twenty-two years of space travel with no definite goal at the end - but Mark is willing to take the risk.
