Synopsis
This is the first of four volumes produced by the Cork Archaeological Survey, it concentrates on the sites of West Cork. The survey was established in 1982 as part of a comprehensive programme for the protection of archaeological remains. Its aim was to achieve extensive coverage, in as short a period as possible, but not an intensive examination of each individual monument. It is hoped that they will help to foster a greater appreciation of archaeological heritage and assist in its protection.
