Leonard Gering was co-author, with the late Denis Cowen, of The Law of Negotiable Instruments in South Africa. For many years, Leonard Gering was Professor of Mercantile Law at the University of Durban-Westville, and practised at the Durban Bar from 1977 to 1992 when he took up his appointment at the university.
